About the Founder

Nosakhere Griffin-EL, Sr. Ph.D.

Dr. Nosakhere Griffin-EL is the founder and President of The Dreamocracy Learning Lab and the creator of the The Young Dreamers Book Club. As an educational leader, believes in the power of dreams to transform the world. Throughout his professional career, he has designed innovative learning experiences, conducted research, and co-created programs to address pressing educational problems facing people of African descent. His work focuses on supporting children in using reading as a tool to build their dreams.

Dr. Griffin-EL completed his undergraduate work at The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. He completed both his master's in School Leadership and Ph.D. in Social and Comparative Analysis in Education at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education.

He is a former Lecturer of Inclusive Innovation at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business in South Africa. During his time in South Africa, he conducted research on local township entrepreneurs and educational reform organizations, and taught master classes throughout Southern Africa, and designed programs.

Dr. Griffin-EL entered the early childhood literacy space after his son was diagnosed with a speech delay. He conducted research and found that the process of reading had the potential to mitigate speech delays. In the summer of 2016, he read over 600 books with his sons, created customized learning tools, and taught them the basis of phonics. The duration of the summer his oldest son speech improved and his youngest son, who was 2 years old, learned how to read. This experience inspired Dr. Griffin-EL to expand his literacy work into the community. He has created initiatives, programs, and content to impact families across the city of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Dr. Griffin-EL views this literacy work as a calling to support children in developing their dreams.

Dr. Griffin-EL is married to Dr. Eliada Griffin-EL, they are the proud parents of two energetic boys: Nosakhere Griffin-EL, Jr. and Onyemachi Griffin-EL .
